This year, our MYP5 students have demonstrated remarkable curiosity, creativity, and determination through their IB Personal Projects. Each student selected a topic of personal significance, conducted independent research, developed new skills, and created a final product that reflects months of planning, perseverance, and reflection. We are incredibly proud of the breadth of interests represented and the quality of work produced.

This selection represents just a small sample of the outstanding work produced by our MYP5 students this year. Unfortunately, we cannot list all the projects, but perhaps readers can get a glimpse of them through the following highlights: 

Bosco Zheng – The Neural and Ethical Boundaries of Empathy

Bosco的个人项目极富雄心，融合了哲学、神经科学、伦理学和网页设计，借此探索同理心的本质及其如何塑造我们的道德决策。在这一过程中，他研究了复杂的理念，同时自学了网站开发的基础知识，最终创建了一个通俗易懂的在线资源库，鼓励他人深入思考人类价值观与同情心。

Bosco combined philosophy, neuroscience, ethics, and web design in an ambitious project exploring what empathy is and how it shapes our moral decision-making. Along the way, he taught himself the fundamentals of website development while researching complex ideas, ultimately creating an accessible online resource that encourages others to think deeply about human values and compassion.

Maxi Wang – Bench Press to 100 kg

Maxi将个人健身目标转化为对力量训练的深入研究。通过设计并坚持一套系统训练计划，他探索了运动、营养、复健以及自律背后的科学原理。尽管该项目以健身为核心，但Maxi的反思表明，韧性、坚持以及从挫折中汲取经验，才是他最宝贵的收获。

Maxi turned a personal fitness goal into a thoughtful investigation of strength training. Through designing and following a structured training program, he explored the science behind exercise, nutrition, recovery, and self-discipline. Although the project centered on physical performance, Maxi's reflections showed that resilience, consistency, and learning from setbacks were among his greatest achievements.

Missy Huang – The Mutual Influence of Chinese Language Change on Society

Missy针对汉语如何在历史长河中与社会共同演变这一课题，展开了令人印象深刻的学术研究。通过考察从古代中国到现代网络文化的各类案例，她揭示了语言、文化与社会变迁之间引人入胜的联系。她的研究项目展现了出色的历史研究能力、分析思维，以及对理解母语演变历程的真诚热情。

Missy undertook an impressive academic investigation into how the Chinese language has evolved alongside society throughout history. By examining examples from ancient China to modern internet culture, she uncovered fascinating links between language, culture, and social change. Her project demonstrated outstanding historical research, analytical thinking, and a genuine passion for understanding the evolution of her native language.

Alicia Liu – Royal Jewelry in the 1950s

Alicia将对珠宝设计的热爱与历史研究相结合，探讨了二战后英国和摩纳哥王室如何通过珠宝来体现不断变化的社会价值观。她从博物馆藏品和历史档案中汲取灵感，设计出一系列独具匠心的项链，既捕捉了各王室的独特风格，又展现出对设计、工艺及文化历史的深刻理解。

Alicia combined her love of jewelry design with historical research to explore how the British and Monaco royal families used jewelry to reflect changing social values after the Second World War. Drawing inspiration from museum collections and historical archives, she designed original necklaces that captured the distinctive styles of each royal family while demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of design, craftsmanship, and cultural history.

Brianna Yang – Explaining Quantum Entanglement for MYP Students

受物理学中最引人入胜的概念之一所吸引，Brianna挑战自我，致力于让年轻学习者能够理解量子纠缠。她深入研究了先进的科学理念，并将其转化为一本清晰生动的手册，其中充满了通俗易懂的解释和精心挑选的类比。她的项目既彰显了科学好奇心，也展现了将复杂理念清晰传达给他人的非凡能力。

Driven by a fascination with one of physics' most intriguing concepts, Brianna challenged herself to make quantum entanglement understandable for younger learners. She researched advanced scientific ideas and transformed them into a clear, engaging handbook filled with accessible explanations and carefully chosen analogies. Her project highlights both scientific curiosity and an impressive ability to communicate complex ideas to others.

Stacy Chen – Becoming a Certified International Pastry Chef

Stacy将自己长久以来的烘焙热情，转化为一次真正意义上的专业学习经历。她在考取国际注册高级西点师证书的同时，接受了西点制作的正规培训，并详细记录了自己在培训中掌握的技术以及达到专业标准所需的投入与坚持。她的个人项目不仅展现了烹饪创意，更体现了坚韧不拔的毅力和对终身学习的承诺。

Stacy transformed a long-standing passion for baking into an authentic professional learning experience. She completed formal training in Western pastry making while working towards internationally recognized pastry chef certifications, documenting both the technical skills she developed and the dedication required to reach professional standards. Her project showcased not only culinary creativity but also perseverance and a commitment to lifelong learning.
