近来，在今年第四个IB PYP探究单元学习中，福州西湖国际学校四年级学子围绕“我们如何组织自己（How We Organize Ourselves）”这一主题展开了探索。小学生们研究了组织的结构、人们在组织中扮演的角色、不同的政府体系以及参与国家治理的各个部门，并探讨了这些系统如何影响周遭世界。不仅如此，他们还思索了组织和社会中对「成功」的不同看法。

Throughout the fourth unit of inquiry this year, the Grade 4 students explored the theme “How We Organize Ourselves.” Throughout the unit, students investigated how organizations are structured, the roles people play within them, different systems of government and the branches involved in running a country, and how these systems influence the world around us. Students also considered different perspectives of success within organizations and societies.

此前，四年级师生一起探索了多种职业。学子分组采访本校教职工、了解大家的岗位职责，此外，还有三位本校四年级学子家长获邀，进入校园分享他们的职业经验。

The lead-up to this final line of inquiry included exploring a variety of careers, interviewing staff members about their job roles, and finally participating in a guest speaker experience with three of our very own Grade 4 parents.

这一系列分享活动中，三位家长嘉宾的首要目标，是与小学生们分享自己对「成功」——不论是事业上的还是生活中的——的见解。学子认真聆听、积极与嘉宾互动，并根据演讲内容做了不少笔记。以下观点均总结自四年级学子的种种回顾与思考——一起来看看他们获得了哪些启示！

The three parents who volunteered to speak to the class were given one overarching goal: to share their perspectives on success in both work and life. The following ideas were some of the key takeaways based on reflections written by the students themselves.

首位演讲嘉宾余先生在一家高端科技公司担任总经理，他分享了自己如何成功管理手下900多位员工、解决各种各样问题的工作经历。余先生认为，事业上的成功源于对工作的热情，以及通过自身工作创造价值。然而，在生活中，他认为成功意味着探索世界、保持快乐和健康。

Our first speaker, Mr. Yu, shared what it is like to work as the General Manager of a high-end technology company, managing more than 900 employees and using strong problem-solving skills to do so successfully. Mr. Yu explained that success in a career comes from feeling passionate about your work and creating value through what you do. In life, however, he believes success means exploring the world, being happy, and staying healthy.

郭先生作为第二位分享嘉宾，向听众介绍了大学教授&生物工程师这一令人着迷的职业，展示了科学研究如何运用于现实生活、及其如何对社会产生积极影响。郭先生认为，在他的工作领域取得成功意味着帮助学生学习、取得新发现以及解决问题。而在生活中，成功意味着保持好奇心、学会如何学习，并且不怕犯错。

Our second speaker, Mr. Guo, introduced students to the fascinating role of a university professor and bioengineer, demonstrating the real-world applications of scientific work and how it can positively impact society. He explained that success in his field means helping students learn, making new discoveries, and solving problems. In life, success means remaining curious, learning how to learn, and not being afraid to make mistakes.

最后一位演讲者陆先生是一位进出口物流专家。他详细描述了货物在全球各地生产、运输、销售，最终送达客户家门口这一复杂流程——这个过程常被人们视为理所当然——从而生动地体现了组织管理的重要性。陆先生对自己职业成功的定义为：做出明智的决策，并确保货物安全、高效地送达。而谈及个人生活成功的定义，他认为最重要的是拥有一个幸福美满、平安无忧的家庭。

Our final speaker, Mr. Lek, an import-export logistics expert, truly demonstrated the importance of organization as he described the complex process of products being manufactured around the world, shipped, sold, and ultimately delivered to customers’ doorsteps — a process many people take for granted. Mr. Lek described success in his profession as making good decisions and ensuring that items are delivered safely and efficiently. However, his definition of success in life centered above all else on having a happy and safe family.

几场演讲结束后，四年级学子回想自己之前对「成功」的看法，思考自己的观点在这一单元学习后是否有所改变。诸如「成功意味着给世界带来新理念」「成功就是每天进步、学习新事物」「成功是为他人付出、而不是只为了赚钱」这样的提炼，既体现了学子对演讲者观点的深刻理解，也将其与学子自身的目标和价值观联系在了一起。

Following the presentations, students reflected on their own perspectives of success and considered how their ideas may have changed based on what they learned. Responses such as “Success means giving the world new ideas,” “Success is improving and learning new things every day,” and “Success is working for other people, not just for money” showed a deep understanding of the ideas shared by the speakers while also connecting them to the students’ own goals and values.

通过这一单元的学习，四年级学子拓展了他们对世界运行机制的理解，也意识到各个职位的人们在构建一个运转良好的学校、社区与社会中发挥的重要作用。衷心感谢各位优秀的演讲嘉宾，感谢他们抽出宝贵时间，与学子分享自己的经验和见解。这对所有参与者来说都是一次愉快而有意义的学习经历！

Throughout this unit, students expanded their understanding of how the world is organized and the important roles that people play in creating a functional school, community, and society. It was an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience for everyone involved.
