Students take full responsibility for their learning process—from selecting a topic and conducting research to planning, taking action, and reflecting on their outcomes. Along the way, they apply a wide range of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, including time management, research, organization, critical thinking, communication, and self-reflection. Vindy Wang has always been a talented artist in our school, and this year she successfully completed a 40-page art collection that showcases her growth as both an illustrator and designer. Her work demonstrates a strong understanding of color theory, composition, and perspective, resulting in visually compelling character designs. In addition to her drawing skills, Vindy mastered essential design software and applied professional typesetting techniques to ensure visual harmony and text readability throughout her collection. Eduardo Barranco achieved his goal of combining coding and scientific understanding by building a fully functional website focused on Hawking Radiation. The site not only showcases his growing skills in web development but also includes a well-researched explanatory paper that clearly communicates complex physics concepts such as black holes and Hawking Radiation. Through this project, Eduardo demonstrated his ability to integrate STEM knowledge with digital creation, highlighting his passion for both coding and astrophysics, while demonstrating his excellent ability to communicate both.

Sonia focused on harmonizing the setting, clothing, and overall design to create a cohesive and expressive character. Over a three-week period, she consistently created and followed achievable daily plans, adjusting them to accommodate real-life responsibilities and unexpected changes. Bonnie's dedication to self-reflection and habit formation helped her gradually reduce distractions, improve her time management, and develop a healthier lifestyle. Her project demonstrates how intentional planning, accountability, and persistence can foster long-term personal growth and lifelong learning habits.

In the future, we plan to release a summary video of IB Personal Project. Interested viewers can learn more about the projects and the impressions of the teachers and students who visited on the showcase day. The Personal Project not only marks the conclusion of the MYP—it also acts as a powerful bridge to the future, preparing students for the independence, inquiry, and self-motivation required in the IB Diploma Programme, university learning, and beyond. Just as importantly, it nurtures the mindset and skills needed for the kinds of careers we envision for our students: purposeful, creative, and driven by curiosity and impact.
