CAASEL是统合、学术、艺术与情商学习的英文缩写。这是福州西湖国际学校的情商中心，也是我们的“第二课堂”！艺术熏陶、情商、亲近自然&生活技能三大类课程不仅学子提升社会情感能力，也促进个体与环境和谐发展。

CAASEL Center (the Collaborative Academic, Arts, Social Emotional Learning Center), also known as the Art Center, is the social practice base of Fuzhou Lakeside International School, also known as the "Second Campus". The three major categories of artistic edification, EQ courses, close to nature & life skills courses not only enhance the social and emotional skills of our students, but also promote the harmonious development of individuals and the environment.

春回大地，CAASEL悄悄染上了湿漉漉的绿意，本周伊始，FLIS幼儿园小朋友的到来打破了这片宁静。在艺术老师的带领下，学子先通过传球游戏热身、再通过3D折纸活动理解平面图形与三维立体图形的转换。

As spring returns to the earth, CAASEL is quietly tinted with wet greenery. At the beginning of this week, the arrival of FLIS ECE students broke the tranquility. Led by the art teacher, the students first warmed up through a ball-passing game, and then understood the conversion of flat shapes to three-dimensional shapes through 3D origami activities.

来CAASEL当然要拥抱自然！小朋友们收集花草制作植物拓印，在草地上你追我赶享受运动的乐趣，此外，他们还认领了一块属于班级的小农场，播下种子，在此劳作、观察、学习……种下对春天的美好期许。

When you come to CAASEL, of course you should embrace nature! Students collected flowers and plants to make plant rubbings, chased each other on the grass to enjoy the fun of sports, in addition, they also adopted a small farm belonging to the class, sowed seeds, where they labored, observed, and learned... just so they plant the beautiful expectations for spring.

春天当然也来到了FLIS校园里。每年三月下旬，足球场边盛开的满树梨花总那么引人侧目，与之遥遥相望的，是马路对面灿烂的炮仗花墙……你是否曾被校园四周绽放的花朵所惊艳，却苦于不知其名；那么多形状各异、随四季变换颜色、形态的植物令你深深着迷，却不知从何查起？

Spring has certainly come to the FLIS campus. Every year in late March, the pear blossoms blooming by the soccer field always attract people's attention, and far away from it, is the splendid wall of flamevine across the road... Have you ever been amazed by the flowers blooming around the campus, but don't know their names; been fascinated by so many different plant shapes, changing colors and forms with the seasons, but don't know where to find out more information! Where to start?

如果有本周边植物图鉴就好了。

It would be nice to have a campus plants dictionary.

近日，MYP的Sally与Yuhom两位同学，在完成科学课作业之余，用收集拍摄的植物照片、资料制作了一个可以通过英文名及拉丁文名进行检索的“植物词典（The Plant Dictionary）”网站。在此，Sally与Yuhom探索了二十余种植物的名称、栖息地、特征以及许多有趣的信息，欢迎同样喜欢植物、热爱自然的同学前往查阅、交流：https://sites.google.com/view/theplantdictionary/home

Recently, Sally and Yuhom from MYP, in addition to completing their homework for their science class, created a website called "The Plant Dictionary", which can be searched by plants’ English and Binomial names, using photos and information of plants that they had collected. They have explored the names, habitats, and characteristics of more than 20 plants, and have found a lot of interesting information that students who also love plants and nature are welcome to explore: https://sites.google.com/view/theplantdictionary/home

两位FLIS学子利用网页技术及植物相关的软件制作校本植物网站，既体现了IB MYP课程对学生信息素养与媒介素养的技能培养，同时，能够将学习到的基础知识拓展应用于现实生活之中，两人也兑现了我们对IB学习者“知识渊博（knowledgeable）”与“善于沟通（communicators）”特质的期待！

The two FLIS students utilized web technology and plant-related software to create a school-based plant website, which not only reflects the IB MYP's ATL skills development of information literacy and media literacy for students, by being able to expand their learning knowledge and apply it to real life, these students also fulfill our expectations for IB learners to be "knowledgeable" and "communicators"!

FLIS春季OPEN HOUSE顺利举行

2023-2024学年春季开放日也于本周顺利举行。这是一项在校内举办，意在拉近家校距离，令家长有机会观摩课堂、了解日常校园工作情况的活动。

The Spring Open House for this school year was also held this week. This is an event held at school to build relationships with the parents and to allow them to become more familiar with their child’s school life. On these very special days of Open House at FLIS, parents and families have the opportunity to see the regular daily routine of students and staff and observe lessons learned by the students.

开放日当天，在聆听了各部门主管说明会、旁听课堂并与教师交流之后，家长们近距离了解了FLIS的授课模式、教育理念，并对一些学部新发展、新变化有了认知。

On the day of the Open House, after listening to the orientation of each department, observing the classroom, and communicating with teachers, parents got a close-up understanding of FLIS's teaching approach and educational philosophy, as well as some of the school's new developments and changes.

值得一提的是，本次开放日活动中，几位中学志愿者积极承担了接待工作。感谢他们的协助！

这个季节不仅适合外出拥抱春光，也适合运动锻炼，强健体魄。今年4月3日（如遇天气不佳则顺延），FLIS计划在福建省奥林匹克体育中心举办一年一度的春季运动会，我们为健儿们准备了可容纳2.4万人的广阔运动场，只待学子一展雄姿。敬请期待！

This is the season of renewal, which is not only suitable for going out to embrace the spring, but also suitable for sports and exercise to strengthen the body. On April 3 (or later if the weather is bad), FLIS plans to hold its annual Spring Sports Day at the Fujian Olympic Sports Center Stadium, where we have prepared a 24,000-capacity stadium for our athletes to show off their talents.
