Fuzhou Lakeside International School has always been proud of our students, but we have been beaming extra-wide smiles of pride this semester as the students from the secondary division have successfully participated in various competitions.
世界学者杯是一个在国际上享有盛名的跨学科学术盛宴，旨在通过四个学术项目（辩论赛、协同创作、学者杯知识竞答、知识挑战）的竞赛以及一些诸如达人秀、“羊驼平衡挑战”等有趣的活动，开拓选手在未知领域的视野，并在全球化的大背景下，促进来自不同文化背景学生的交流。自几位FLIS学子在广州赛区大展身手后，近期，FLIS又派出两队学子参与世界学者杯区域赛，这一回，他们来到深圳。此次区域赛竞争极为激烈，参赛者逾五百人，分别代表二十二所不同学校。
The World Scholar’s Cup competition is an international interdisciplinary competition that comprises of four main activities: Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, the Scholar’s Challenge, and the Scholar’s Bowl. After having been very successful at the first regional round in Guangzhou last month, FLIS had two more teams represent the school at another regional round of the event that was held in Shenzhen. This was a highly competitive round, with more than 500 students representing 22 different schools in attendance.

FLIS is very proud to announce that both FLIS teams who attended the Regional Round in Shenzhen also qualified for the next round, the big Global Round. Congratulations to the seventh graders Cindy, Chloe, and Matthew, and the sixth graders Cayden, David, and Selyn who all performed extremely well! Each won several gold and silver medals for various activities and areas of knowledge.
世界学者杯全球赛将于六月二十日至二十六日在北京举行，我们将派出几只队伍参与角逐。届时，请为我们的学子加油鼓劲！最终晋级的队伍将参加十一月于耶鲁大学举行的冠军赛！
We are pleased to be sending several teams to compete in the WSC Global Round in Beijing from June 20-26, 2019. Be sure to cheer on our teams as they compete in the biggest round yet! Teams who qualify at this round will be eligible to compete at the Championship at Yale University in November.
世界中学生运动会将于明年在中国晋江拉开帷幕。上周末，福州西湖国际学校也派出学生参加选拔形象大使的演讲比赛。世界中学生运动会（GYMNASIADE）是由国际中学生体育联合会主办，限世界各国13岁至18岁在校中学生参加的大型综合性运动会。上一届世界中学生运动会（2018年）于摩洛哥马拉喀拉举行，本届赛事（2020年），超过三千名运动员将代表五十八个国家，在福建晋江展开角逐！
Fuzhou Lakeside International School also participated in a speech competition that could win them ambassador representation at the soon-coming 18th Gymnasiade 2020 to be held in China. Gymnasiade is a biannual international multi-sport event organized by the International School Sport Federation for middle and high school students between the ages of 13 and 18. Jinjiang, Fujian, has been chosen to host the 18th Gymnasiade in 2020 following the 17th event that was held in Morocco in 2018 with over 3000 young athletes representing 58 countries!
FLIS派出十名信心满满的中学生迎接这一挑战。他们自行撰写了演讲稿，也吸取了来自老师的有益建议，反复练习，直至比赛当日以完美表现赢得阵阵喝彩，令老师、同学们骄傲不已。获胜者将有资格以形象大使的身份参与明年的盛会。
In response to a call for speeches for the event, ten brave and willing secondary students stepped up to the challenge of presenting speeches for the event. Each of them wrote did their own research, wrote their own speeches, accepted constructive edits and suggestions from their teachers, rehearsed over and again, until the day of the competition on the 18th of May where they made their teachers and peers very proud. Winners will be able to serve as ambassadors at this huge event next year.
