School Events丨2020-2021秋季学期「开放日」活动顺利举行!

OPEN HOUSE

福州西湖国际学校于10月20日及21日举行了秋季学期小学部、中学部「开放日」活动。这是每学期初的常规活动,借此,家长得以观摩孩子在校园的日常活动,也了解教师的教学方式。
Fuzhou Lakeside International School held its Autumn Semester’s Open House for Primary and Secondary on 20th and 21st October. This is a regular event at the beginning of each school semester, which allows parents to observe their children's daily activities on campus and to get to know the teaching methods of the teachers.



两个部门在开放日当天均由部门主管主持了简短的介绍会。小学部主管Eddy先生表示十分欢迎各位家长的到来,其实,在父母面前,孩子会想要表现得更好,故而开放日活动也有助于激发孩子积极的课堂表现。
On the day of the Open House, both departments’ activities were briefly introduced by their principal. Mr. Eddy, Principal of Primary, welcomed the parents and said that students want to perform better in front of their parents and the open day helped to motivate them to perform more positively in class.



本学期中学部课程体系有了极大改变。IB课程的引进令FLIS的校园生活更加充实、繁忙。主管Sam先生表示欢迎家长们前来参加本次开放日活动,希望大家可以借此机会了解新学年的种种课程、设施变化;也欢迎家长多多与任课教师交流,比如一些新科目:体育健康、数码设计、产品设计等等。
This semester, the secondary school curriculum has changed and the introduction of the IB curriculum has made school life at FLIS even busier and richer. The Principal of Secondary, Mr. Sam, welcomed parents to the Open House to learn more about the changes in the curriculum and facilities for the new school year, as well as to talk to the teachers about the new subjects, such as PE & Health, Digital Design, and Product Design.



对大部分老生家长而言,开放日令他们有机会体会到每年FLIS的新变化,而对新生家长而言,FLIS课堂或许同他们以往认知中的课堂有较大差异。中学部特地为本次开放日活动准备了一份反馈表,我们也希望倾听家长对教学的反馈。
For most parents of older students, the Open House gives them the opportunity to experience new changes at FLIS each year, while for parents of newer students, the FLIS classroom may be quite different from what they have known in the past. Secondary has prepared a feedback form for this Open House and we would like to hear from parents as well.



通过这一公开方式,FLIS希望在学校职工、学生、家长及家庭之间建立交流渠道,共同协作,提升彼此的集体认同感。限于时间,一些家长或许没能进行深入的家校交流,但请勿为此忧心,在不远的未来还有家长会等活动,家长可以根据孩子的学习情况与教师进行有针对性的深层交流,届时期待看到您多多参与的身影!
Through this open approach, FLIS hopes to establish communication channels between school staff, students, parents, and families to work together and enhance a sense of collective identity. Due to time constraints, some parents may not be able to have in-depth parent-teacher communication, but don't worry, there will be parent-teacher conferences and other events in the near future where parents can have in-depth communication with teachers based on their children's learning, and we look forward to seeing you participating more!
