福州西湖国际学校于4月15日至4月17日举行了第四届科学实验成果展！在此期间，小学部与中学部均上交了有趣而引人入胜的作品展板。今年，科学实验成果展根据年龄段分为四组——高中组，初中组，小学高年级组与小学低年级组。高中组的第一名是Kaiden Myers同学的「燃烧实验」！Kaiden同学加热了苹果、香蕉与橘子，并分析了实验结果。获得第二名的科学实验为「影响钉子生锈的因素」。Jeffrey Chen同学与Simon Wang同学在这一实验中探究了导致钉子生锈的种种因素。第三名由Giovana Monteiro 同学与Carolina Vaz同学的实验「糖与茶」摘得。她们分析了哪一种甜味剂的效果更佳。
The fourth annual Fuzhou Lakeside International School Science Fair ran through April 15-17. Many intriguing and interesting projects were submitted from both primary and secondary over the course of the event.  This year, the Science Fair was divided into four age categories- high school, middle school, upper primary, and lower primary. First place in high school went to Burning Test! This project by Kaiden Myers heated apples, bananas, and oranges and analyzed the results. Second place went to Influencing Factors of Nail Rusting. This project, by Jeffrey Chen and Simon Wang, looked at the factors that affected nail rusting. Third place went to Sugar and Tea by Giovana Monteiro and Carolina Vaz.  This project analyzed which sweetener did the better job. 



获得初中组头名的实验提出了一个新颖的问题：「猫是左撇子还是右撇子？」Ashley Wu 同学与Emily Li同学通过实验证明，大多数母猫是左撇子，而大多数公猫是右撇子！Matthew Fernandez同学的实验「香蕉与苹果，哪个腐烂得更快？」与Viv Zhang 同学和 Anna Liu同学的「洗洁精化学实验」共同获得了第二名。Matthew同学通过实验证得香蕉腐烂得最快，而Anna与Vivi同学的实验探究了哪种洗洁精能制造出更大的爆炸。Lulu Qu同学通过实验「什么会改变人们的审美？」研究了人们对与众不同者的反应。
First place in middle school asked the novel question Are Cats Left-handed or Right-handed? This project by Ashley Wu and Emily Li found out that most female cats are left-handed and most male cats are right-handed! There was a tie for second place with Matthew Fernandez’s Do Bananas or Apples Rot Faster?  and Viv Zhang and Anna Liu’s Dish Soap Chemistry taking the honors. Matthew’s experiment determined that the banana decayed the fastest while Anna and Vivi’s project dealt with seeing which dish washing detergent produced the biggest bang. Lulu Qu’s What will Change People Aesthetics? studied the reactions that people have to those who are different.



小学高年级组第一名的实验名称十分简单，「史莱姆」。由Vicky Huang同学， Elaine Lau同学与 Niko Ye同学共同设置的这个实验探讨的是哪种胶能炮制出最黏的「史莱姆」。获得第二名的实验为Dolfin Wu同学与Ray Weng同学的「花色」，该实验对白玫瑰与食物着色进行了研究。第三名则由Molly Lin同学与Vindy Wang同学的「水晶宝宝快长大」摘得。这个实验研究了水晶宝宝在哪种环境里长得最快！
First place in upper primary went to a project titled simply Slime by Vicky Huang, Elaine Lau, and Niko Ye. This project looked at which glue made the best slime. Second place went to Flower Pigmentation by Dolfin Wu and Ray Weng, which studied food coloring and white roses. Third place went to Orbies Waters by Molly Lin and Vindy Wang. This project delved into answering which materials let Orbies grow the fastest!



来到小学低年级组，「抛蛋」实验摘得头名，一年级G班的学生们通过这一实验研究了如何通过坚固的装置保护鸡蛋。一年级B班的实验「哪种油最好？」获得了第二名，学生们打定主意，要找出最适合用于制作爆米花的油。第三名属于Jayden Wu同学、Janet Xu同学、Kevin Lin同学、Peter Wang同学与 Martina同学的实验「转吧，风扇」，这个实验揭示了风扇转动时的对流现象。
Moving on to lower primary the project Egg Drop took home the top prize. This project by G1G dealt with constructing contraptions to safeguard eggs. Second place was won by Which Oil is Best? This project by G1B determined that popping oil was the best oil to use for popping popcorn. Third place went to a project titled Let the Fan Spin by Jayden Wu, Janet Xu , Kevin Lin, Peter Wang and Martina which demonstrated the effects on convection currents on a fan!
