2019年4月8日，福州西湖国际学校一年级至六年级学生参加了我校与福建省硬笔书法家协会合办的福建省校园汉字书写大会初赛，同学们各显其能，展现出自己书法技能的最好一面。

On Monday, April 8, 2019, Fuzhou Lakeside International School students (G1-G6) participated in the Fujian Province Campus Chinese Character Writing Conference, which was co-hosted by FLIS and Fujian Hard-pen Calligraphers Association. All students showed their best calligraphy skills.

鲁迅先生说汉字有“三美”，音美以感耳，形美以感目，意美以感心。而这些都需要每一个书写者用心去演绎、去创造的。我们希望通过这次比赛，唤起学生对书写的重视，充分感受汉字文化气息，增进其对汉字文化的兴趣和感情，让学生们更多领悟到汉字的深厚意蕴，感受中华文化的无穷魅力。

The famous writer Lu Xun said that Chinese characters have "three kinds of beauty:" sound beauty which is felt by the ears, shape beauty which is felt by the eyes, and meaning beauty which is felt by the heart. All of these elements need the calligrapher’s complete whole-hearted involvement. We hope that this competition has inspired students' interest in calligraphy, made them fully experience the charm of Chinese characters, enhanced their knowledge of Chinese culture, and given each student a deeper understanding of the profound meaning found in Chinese characters.
