感恩节对福州西湖国际学校的学子们来说，是个熟悉而亲切的节日。我们通常会在这一天尽情表达对他人的感谢之情，一起享用美味的食物、饱餐一顿，再举行感恩节合唱比赛……而今年，我们决定换一种形式庆祝这个美好的节日——本周三，FLIS举行了感恩节作品展，学生们制作了多种带有感恩节元素的手工艺品，也以颜料、线条为媒介，绘制了饱含谢意的画作，他们还在“感恩树”上挂上卡片，道出心中的感恩。

Thanksgiving Day is a meaningful holiday for students at Fuzhou Lakeside International School. It is a day to show our gratitude to others. Traditionally, we have shared a Thanksgiving dinner with and held a singing competition. This year, we decided to celebrate this holiday in a different way. On Wednesday, FLIS held an Thanksgiving Art Exhibition. All the works of art in this exhibition were created by FLIS students who expressed their gratitude through painting, drawing and crafting.  

不少前来看展的观众都惊叹不已：看似粗糙抽象的油画里，实则隐藏着细腻的笔触、简洁的泼墨之作尽显洒脱、跃动的色彩让人心情大好……艺术作品的丰富种类也让看客大开眼界。或许孩子们的笔触稍显青涩、手工作品也未必尽善尽美，但他们为作品倾注的真意与灵魂还是深深打动了大家。不仅如此，许多观众都表示在这些作品里看到了创作者的另一面，一幅更丰富的心象世界——甚至完全可能与他/她平日里给人的印象完全相左，这种反差也让人觉得十分有趣！
Many visitors were amazed by the students' works. Some oil paintings seemed crude and abstract, but after careful scrutiny one can see the exquisite brush strokes hidden underneath. A concise splashed ink painting shows the creator's free-and-easy style and vivid colors convey different moods. The variety of art work was also impressive. Perhaps students' creative works were imperfect but the true meaning and soul they poured into their work deeply moved everyone. Many visitors indicated that they saw a different side to students, an insight into the way in which they see the world - perhaps even completely different from the impression he or she makes in daily life! All agree, however, that it was an amazing experience!
