感恩节在加拿大及美国被视为国家节假日。最初，这个节日是为对上一年度及丰收祝福表达感谢之情。在加拿大，感恩节通常在十月的第二个周一庆祝，在美国则是十一月的第四个周四。在世界上的另一些地区，也有相同的庆祝传统。虽然感恩节自有其历史渊源和宗教文化传统意义，但长久以来，也一直通过世俗的方式进行庆祝。
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States. It was originally celebrated as a day of giving thanks for the blessings of the harvest and of the preceding year. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.

在福州西湖国际学校，感恩节是一个有关分享、感恩、令人愉悦的节日！在感恩节活动期间，家长及孩子们都从家中带来了美味的食物与大家分享；中学部的孩子们以“感恩”为主题进行了绘画及手工艺品创作；小学部的每个班级都会为后勤人员制作感恩卡~ 此外，去年我校举办了感恩节歌唱比赛并获得巨大成功。今年，由小学部至中学部，每个班级都努力练习，争取拿出最好的表演状态！我们希望您能为孩子们投票，选出您认为表现最好的班级。投票数最多班级的每个学生将获得五张Merit cards以及美食派对作为奖励！
At FLIS, Thanksgiving is a day for sharing, showing gratitude and having fun! Students and parents will bring food to school; secondary students will make crafts or paintings about Thanksgiving Day and their works will be displayed in the lobby; each class will make a Thanksgiving card for Logistics Department. Just like last year, we had held a Thanksgiving chorus competition and it was a huge success. This year, from primary to secondary, students practiced very hard to show their best performance! We would like to invite you to vote for the best singing group (class). The most voted class will be rewarded with 5 Merit cards per student and a pizza or cake party!
